چکیده

First-generation (1G) bioethanol is one of the most used liquid biofuels in transport industry. It generated by using sugar- or starch-based feedstocks, while second-generation (2G) lignocellulosic feedstocks. Distillers’ dried grains with solubles (DDGS) a byproduct first-generation production current annual 22.6 million tons USA. DDGS rich fiber and valuable nutrients contents, which can be to produce lignocellulolytic enzymes such as cellulases hemicellulases for 2G production. However, needs pretreatment method dilute acid, ammonia soaking, steam hydrolysis release monosaccharides short-length oligosaccharides fermentable sugars use microbial media. These then induce growth enzyme compared only glucose xylose In addition, selection more suitable strains, work best production, also needed. Media optimization fermentation process strategies applied find optimum conditions needed Therefore, this review, summary all techniques compiled special focus on recent findings obtained previous pieces research conducted authors others literature. Furthermore, comparison other feedstocks improvement provided. Overall, acid proven better than methods, enhance considerable folds feedstock DDGS. Future studies further enhanced technoeconomic viability on-site manufacture ethanol plants, thus bridging two processes efficient corn plants.

Biorefinery strategies for upgrading Distillers’ Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS)

20 21 Distillers’ Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) is the major by-product of bioethanol and distillery 22 plants. Due to its high content of proteins, water-soluble vitamins and minerals, DDGS has been 23 long marketed as animal feed for livestock. EU legislation on liquid biofuels could raise the 24 demand on bioethanol production in Europe, with a resulting increase in DDGS availability. 25...

Evaluation of dried distillers' grains with solubles (DDGS) as a protein source for broilers.

Male broiler chicks (n=120) were fed diets containing 0, 5, 10 or 15% dried distillers' grains with solubles (DDGS) from the 12th day up to the end of fattening (day 35). During this period feed intake, weight gain and excreta quality (pH, DM) were tested. A digestibility trial was carried out on four birds from each group on the last five days of the experiment to determine the digestibility o...

Pilot scale fiber separation from distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) using sieving and air classification.

Distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS), the coproduct of fuel ethanol production from cereal grains like corn, is mainly used as cattle feed and is used at low inclusion levels in poultry and swine diets because of high fiber content. Elusieve process, the combination of sieving and air classification (elutriation), was developed in laboratory scale to separate fiber from DDGS to result i...

Microwave pyrolysis of distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS) for biofuel production.

Microwave pyrolysis of distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS) was investigated to determine the effects of pyrolytic conditions on the yields of bio-oil, syngas, and biochar. Pyrolysis process variables included reaction temperature, time, and power input. Microwave pyrolysis of DDGS was analyzed using response surface methodology to find out the effect of process variables on the biofuel ...
